Walmart buys 169 acres near DIA for what could be major distribution center

The real estate arm of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has purchased 169 acres of land zoned for industrial use just south of DIA, according to a warranty deed filed in Adams County last month.

Wal-Mart Real Estate Business Trust paid $13.5 million for the land, located near the intersection of East 56th Avenue and Jackson Gap Road in the proposed Porteos mixed-use development site. The company bought the land from A&C Properties, the Phoenix-based master developer of the Porteos site, which has been annexed into Aurora.
